Note in particular that metal blades (sharp or blunt)\, working projectile weapons\, and wooden or metal bats & paddles are all forbidden. \nThe UK Championships of Cosplay is a craftsmanship based cosplay contest consisting of four qualifiers and a final\, each with a pre-judging session and a stage display where entrants will pose and display their costumes. The winner of the UK Championship of Cosplay will be flown to Chicago to compete in the Global Championship of Cosplay final. All entries must represent a character or element from the pop culture realm. \nThe return of MCM London Comic Con in May 2019 also means the return of the Cosplay Masquerades! Saturday hosts a smaller ‘mini-Masquerade’ on the PopAsia Stage around lunchtime to make way for the EuroCosplay Championships Final at the end of the day. DESCRIPTION:Phoenix Fan Fusion ( aka Phoenix Comicon ) is a multigenre entertainment and comic book convention held annually in Phoenix\, Arizona. It was founded as the Phoenix Cactus Comicon in June 2002\, and originally consisted of a one-day six-hour event held in Ahwatukee\, Arizona. PCC plays host to comic related panels\, programming events\, art contests\, and autograph signings for all ages. It is a four-day event (Thursday-Sunday) held during the summer at the Phoenix Convention Center in downtown Phoenix. On Thursday evening prior to the official opening of the event\, there is a preview for professionals\, exhibitors\, and select guests pre-registered for all four days. \nOriginally showcasing comic books\, science fiction/fantasy and film/television\, and related popular arts\, the convention has expanded over the years to include a larger range of pop culture elements\, such as horror\, anime\, manga\, animation\, toys\, collectible card games\, video games\, webcomics\, and fantasy novels. SUMMARY:The 18th Annual East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention (ECBACC 2019)
DESCRIPTION:The East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention\, originally slated to be called the Pan-African Comic Convention (PAC-Con) or First World Komix Con (1st World Con)\, is an annual gathering of comic book artists\, writers\, their fans and retailers who are interested in discussing\, buying and selling comic books\, sci-fi\, action figures and related material by and / or about Black superheroes / super-powered characters / adventures. In addition\, the Convention also features panel discussions\, a costume contest\, self-publishing and graphic arts workshops for aspiring creators\, and film screenings of works of veterans and amateurs alike. \nTentative workshops: Writing\, Drawing\, and the Business of Comics. There will also be multiple panel discussions\, a costume contest\, and an all-day marketplace to buy and sell comic books and related items. \nThe 18th Annual East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention will be held Saturday\, May 18\, 2018\, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at TECH Freire Charter School.

DESCRIPTION:1988. Microsoft releases Windows 2.1. Bruce Wills becomes an action hero with the release of Die Hard. Bobby McFerrin tells everyone\, “”Don’t Worry\, Be Happy.”” And in the Twin Cities\, a group of comic book fans decide to have a comic book convention. \nIt was a relatively small\, local show. There weren’t a lot of frills or ‘extras.’ Just comic dealers\, comic creators\, and comic fans. A stripped-down\, old-school\, four-on-the-floor\, dual-overhead cam comic convention. And just like a quarter-mile run in a classic muscle car\, it was fast\, exciting\, and a lot of FUN. \nEnough fun that they decided to not just do it again\, but to add a second show! And\, contrary to every other major comic convention in the country\, we still maintain two conventions every year.

DESCRIPTION:Tidewater Comicon is the brainchild of founder Mike Federali who wanted to see a local comic book convention become a reality so bad he sold his entire comic book collection at garage sales\, flea markets (and even on AMC’s Comic Book Men) to make the show possible. The first show was a one day hotel show with an over capacity crowd. Fans gathered\, met creators\, had a blast\, and left with only one complaint.. More Space! \nThanks to the yard sales\, fundraisers\, Tidewater Comicon moved to the Virginia Beach Convention Center where it has continued to grow each year in space and attendance. Since 2012\, VanCAF has been held at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre in Vancouver\, British Columbia. \nThe 2018 edition of the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival will take place Saturday\, May 19 and Sunday\, May 20 at the Roundhouse\, 181 Roundhouse Mews. \nAdmission is free. \nInformation on the specific creators\, events and exhibitions that will make up next year’s VanCAF will be posted on this website as we get closer to the event! \n  \nHistory \nThe Vancouver Comic Arts Festival is a two-day celebration of comics that enjoyed its launch in May 2012. The festival features readings\, panels\, and workshops\, alongside an exhibition for cartoonists from across the country and down the coast. \nVanCAF is meant for everyone\, whether they’re comic professionals\, die-hard fans\, or casual readers. For this reason\, admission to all events is completely free\, and participating fees for exhibitors are kept as low as possible. The festival seeks to support Vancouver comics\, encouraging local creators and stories. \nThe show has enjoyed a growing audience since 2012\, attracting 3\,200 attendees with 92 exhibitors in its first year. In May 2017\, we boasted an astonishing 10\,300 attendees\, and 260+ exhibitors\, spanning across two halls. \nThe Vancouver Comic Arts Festival is managed and organized by the Vancouver Comic Arts Association\, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting local cartoonists with the community. Sunday is Kid’s Day featuring kid-friendly activities.\nHere is a sampling of some of this year’s Motor City Comic Con media and comic guests: \nAllen Bellman: Began his career in comics as a teenager when he drew backgrounds for Captain America\nin 1942 and eventually worked on titles including: The Patriot\, The Destroyer\, The Human Torch\,\nMarvel’s Young Allies\, Jap Buster Johnson and Jet Dixon of the Space Squadron\, and many more. \nAmy Jo Johnson: A film maker\, musician and actor most known for her role as Kimberly Hart in the series\nMighty Morphin Power Rangers\, Julie Emrick on the series Felicity\, and Jules Callaghan on the awardwinning\nseries Flashpoint. Johnson recently launched her debut feature film The Space Between. \nAnthony Michael Hall: Known for his roles as Farmer Ted in Sixteen Candles and Brian Johnson in The\nBreakfast Club\, Hall went on to become the youngest cast member in history on Saturday Night Live. \nBarbara Eden: Named one of America’s 200 Greatest Pop Icons of the 20th Century\, Eden is best known\nfor her role as Jeannie on NBC’s I Dream of Jeannie television series which ran for five seasons. Eden’s\nmemoir Jeannie Out of The Bottle was recently published and debuted as No. 14 on the New York Times\nBest Seller List. \nBig Van Vader: Known for his early wrestling career in Japan\, Big Van Vader went on to also beat\ncompetitors throughout Europe and Mexico and eventually\, leading him to three World Heavyweight\nChampionships. Following his WWE career\, Big Van Vader returned to All Japan Pro Wrestling to form a\ntag team with Stan Hansen. \nDave Gibbons: A British comic book drawer and writer who has worked with comic publishers around\nthe world. Some of his work includes: Doctor Who\, Superman\, Batman\, Green Lantern\, Captain America\,\nDoctor Strange\, Hulk\, Predator and Aliens. \nHerbert Jefferson Jr.: An American film\, television and stage actor best known for his role as Lieutenant\nBoomer on the original Battlestar Galactica TV series. Jefferson also appeared as Roy Dwyer in Rich\nMan\, Poor Man and its sequel Rich Man\, Poor Man Book II\, Maxwell Fall in Emmy Award winning series\nThe Law\, Muntzy in Knight Rider (1982)\, among others. \nIlan Mitchell Smith: An American academic and former actor best known as the co-star in Weird Science\,\nSmith has also appeared in The Wild Life\, The Chocolate War and Superboy. For the past 35 years\, Smith\nhas been a role-player/Dungeon Master\, Miniatures gamer and Indie/Board gamer. \nJohn Barrowman: Singer\, dancer\, host and actor best known for his role as Malcolm Merlyn in the series\nArrow. Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn character has made guest appearances in The Flash as well as on\nthe CW’s Reign. He has hosted ABC’s Sing Your Face Off\, among other major events. \nJosh McDermitt: Comedian and star of AMC’s The Walking Dead\, McDermitt made his television debut\non NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2006. He was casted in TV movie Rehab for Rejects and as Brandon on\nRetired at 35. McDermitt can also be seen in Middle Man and Odious. \nKarolyn Grimes: As a child actor\, Grimes became best known for her role as Zuzu on the film It’s a\nWonderful Life. Grimes currently serves as the unofficial ambassador for the film\, traveling the world\nand speaking at screenings\, benefits\, conventions\, etc. \nKelly Le Brock: An American actress and model known for her acting debut in The Woman in Red. She\nalso appeared in Weird Science\, Hard to Kill\, Betrayal of the Dove\, Tracks of a Killer and Hard Bounty. \nKhary Payton: Known as King Ezekiel on AMC’s The Walking Dead and Aqualad in Young Justice. Payton\nhas been a voice actor for characters such as DC comic book hero Cyborg\, Specialist Wasabi from Big\nHero 6: The Series\, Grimlock from Transformers: Robots in Disguise\, Azrael & Killer Croc in the Batman:\nArkham franchise\, among others. \nKristy Swanson: Known for her appearances in Pretty in Pink\, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)\, Big\nDaddy\, Knots Landing (1987-1988)\, Nightingales (1989) and B.L. Stryker (1989)\, among others. \nLou Ferrigno: Ferrigno is most known as playing the “Hulk” in the CBS series The Incredible Hulk.
