Blerdcon 2019

Blerdcon is an event that highlights and celebrates Blerd culture and creates a marketplace of ideas where sharing that culture can take place with proper context, attribution and positivity in an inclusive environment. Blerdcon is derived from the term “Blerd” which is short for black nerd. Blerd culture encompasses creatives, fans, producers who are and have been contributing to every fandom, but don’t get the recognition or notoriety. Blerdcon celebrates our connection with LGBTQ, the disabled, POCs and the international community! All are welcome to partake in the experience as we are an open community who love all the same nerddom. Some of our many events include: Panels Celebrity Guests Presentations Workshops Gaming Tournaments Cosplay Contests Cosplay Guests Music and Dance Anime Screenings Maid Cafe Don’t miss the Blerdcon “REUNION” July 27-29, 2018!! Focused on Blerd culture and inclusive of our POC, Disabled, LGBTQ, Women and International geek family! A 3 day, 24 hour con based in ANIME, GAMING, COSPLAY, COMICS & SCIFI with panels, celebrity guests, presentations, workshops, gaming tournaments, cosplay contests music and dance while highlighting and showcasing the rich diversity of the minority community contributing in those genres! “Blerd” is shorthand for “black nerd” but is often used as a self-descriptive term for people of all colors within the minority community of geeks. While Blerd is the organizing principle of this con, we are expanding its meaning to encompass the far corners of diversity that represent the growth population for all that we love about nerd-dom. BlerDCon is mixing things up for our second annual Cosplay Contest ! ! ! The Cosplay Contest will focus on overall costume building, with three chances to place. The grand prize will go to the BlerDCon Cosplay Champion(Best in Show). There will be a pre-judging session behind the scenes and a Catwalk Display so you can show off all your hard work! This year, we are capping off entries at 50 contestants. Soon, an online entry form will be available on the BlerDCon website. We will accept 25 online entries and 25 in-person entries. Submitting an entry form will not guarantee admission into the contest. Pre-judging will begin promptly at 1pm and will end at 3:30pm sharp. The Catwalk Display will begin at 6pm, at the Main Events room, but you must be there at 5:30pm to line up! You absolutely must participate in pre-judging and walk the stage during the Catwalk Display to be considered for any of the three winning places. The cosplayer that becomes the BlerDCon Cosplay Champion will reign until BlerDCon 2019!!!
